MACROKIOSK Boosts Direct Carrier Billing Connections Across ASEAN

Strategic partnership between MACROKIOSK and Apigate bridges mobile billing connections across ASEAN

MALAYSIA, 28 January 2019 – MACROKIOSK, a leading digital technology enabler in Asia, has established a strong Direct Carrier Billing (DCB) connections roadmap across Asia through both direct connections with telecommunication operators and via strategic partners in identified markets. MACROKIOSK established a strategic partnership with Apigate, to extend its DCB connections across ASEAN.

Through this strategic partnership, MACROKIOSK will immediately enable its DCB connections into four telecommunications operators in ASEAN, namely Celcom (Malaysia), Dialog (Sri Lanka), Smart (Cambodia) and XL (Indonesia), to deliver an additional total accumulated market size of close to 80 million mobile subscribers to its clienteles across 37 countries.

The majority of ASEAN population consists of communities that are unbanked and do not own credit cards, which results in a large prepaid mobile user segment. DCB allows mobile users to make purchases by deducting from their prepaid balance or charging it to their postpaid bills. This provides an ideal billing solution for digital service providers to bill and for users to enjoy digital contents and services.

“Through MACROKIOSK’s DCB connections, digital service providers will enjoy convenience and security on top of swift onboarding processes and a wider audience reach across ASEAN. At the same time, the mobile user communities will have the opportunity to experience the latest digital content and service offerings from both local and overseas providers. This strategic partnership with Apigate gives us the ability to continue growing our DCB connections footprint across ASEAN,” says Dato’ Henry Goh, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, MACROKIOSK Group.

Zoran Vasiljev, Chief Executive Officer of Apigate, says, “We are excited to partner with MACROKIOSK, a leading digital technology enabler, to increase their DCB presence in ASEAN markets. This collaboration will benefit local mobile users who can enjoy better access to digital mobile services and contents as well as the digital service providers who can generate additional revenue from the region.”

Apigate is the next generation Application Programming Interface (API) platform for enhanced monetization globally with a reach of 3.1 billion across 110 Mobile Network Operators (MNOs). The first phase of the collaboration with MACROKIOSK will see DCB connectivity within four of Axiata’s seven telecommunication companies.
